Our 10-Year Guarantee

Our fixed-frame teak furniture carries a 10-year structural guarantee on the frame and joints for use at home, and 5 years on moving parts, from the date it is delivered. Folding chairs, steamers and tables are guaranteed for 5 years. Used commercially, in a hotel, restaurant or holiday let, it is guaranteed for 5 years on the frame and joints and 2 years on moving parts.

We can offer this because our furniture is made from high-grade, kiln-dried teak heartwood, joined with mortise-and-tenon joints and hidden dowels, and built to last.

What does the guarantee cover?

Structural, manufacturing or material defects that make the furniture unfit for its intended use. If that happens within the guarantee period, we will repair or replace it free of charge; we decide which.

Teak is a natural material, so changes in colour, grain movement, hairline cracks and minor warping are normal and are not faults.

Moving parts means folding hinges, extending mechanisms and brass fittings. The guarantee runs from the date of delivery and applies to the original purchaser, wherever the furniture lives.

What about cushions and seat pads?

Our cushions and seat pads are guaranteed for 2 years against manufacturing faults: seams splitting, zips or Velcro failing, or foam breaking down early. The guarantee doesn't cover normal fading, stains or mould, cushions left out in the rain or stored damp, covers washed other than as their care instructions say, or general wear and tear.

What about bespoke furniture?

Furniture we make to your size or design carries the same guarantee as our standard furniture. If you ask for a design feature we have advised against, such as an extra-long table without extra support, faults caused by that feature aren't covered. We'll always tell you before we make it.

What counts as commercial use?

Furniture used by a business: hotels, restaurants, pubs, cafés, holiday lets, offices and communal or public gardens. We don't recommend folding chairs or folding tables for commercial use: daily folding and heavy use wear hinges quickly. For hotels, restaurants and holiday lets, choose our fixed-frame tables and our non-folding or stacking chairs.

What isn't covered?

  • Natural weathering: teak turning silver-grey over time.
  • Surface checking, hairline cracks and minor movement or warping, which are natural in solid wood.
  • Normal wear and tear, scratches and stains.
  • Damage from misuse, accidents, overloading or standing on furniture.
  • Damage from pressure washers or harsh cleaning products.
  • Furniture treated with varnishes, oils, sealants or other products, other than mild washing-up liquid, our Teak Cleaner or products we have recommended.
  • Furniture that hasn't been looked after as described in our teak care guide.
  • Tables assembled or reassembled by you or a third party, unless we sent the table unassembled with our fitting instructions.
  • Furniture bought before 1 January 2017, before the change in company ownership and makers.
  • Furniture kept under non-breathable covers.
  • Damage from standing furniture on uneven ground, or from moving an extending table while it is extended.
  • Damage from use indoors in heated buildings, or from placing furniture close to outdoor heaters or fire pits.
  • Damage caused while furniture is moved, transported or dismantled by anyone other than us.
  • Alterations or repairs not carried out by us.

How do I look after my furniture?

Follow our teak care guide: a gentle clean once a year is all high-grade teak needs. For commercial use, please check and tighten folding fittings once a year.

How do I make a claim?

  1. Email hello@teakunique.co.uk with your order number, a short description of the problem and photos of the piece.
  2. We'll reply within 5 working days and may ask to inspect the furniture.
  3. If the claim is covered, we'll arrange the repair or replacement and cover the cost of collection and redelivery.

Your legal rights

This guarantee is in addition to your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and does not affect them.
