Steamer chair or sun lounger?
A steamer chair keeps you sitting up, with your legs supported. It's good for reading, and it folds away and is easy to move.
A sun lounger lies fully flat for sunbathing and sits low to the ground. It's longer (about 200cm), so allow space beside a pool or on a terrace.
A reclining chair sits in between: upright enough for a drink at the table, and reclining when you want to relax.

What to look for in a teak lounger
Solid teak. High-grade, kiln-dried teak heartwood stays stable outdoors, and its natural oils mean it needs no treatment.
A back that adjusts. Look for several positions that lock firmly. Our loungers and recliner go from upright to flat or nearly flat.
Wheels. A teak lounger is heavy (our Lombok weighs 35kg), so wheels make it easy to follow the sun.
Fittings that last. Choose brass or stainless steel, which won't rust. Our Teak Recliner has solid brass fittings, and our Sling Lounger has stainless steel.
Cushions that dry fast. Our cushions are Sunproof Olefin over quick-dry foam, with removable, washable covers.
A clear guarantee. Our Lombok lounger has a 10-year guarantee, and our Gili steamer, which folds, has 5 years. Each product page shows its guarantee.

Yes. High-grade teak heartwood, like our Gili and Lombok, is rich in natural oils and needs no treatment. Left outside, it weathers to silver-grey. We don't recommend covers, because they stop air circulating and encourage mould. Bring cushions in during wet spells and over winter. The Gili steamer folds, so it's easy to store in a shed if you have space.
