Choosing your teak dining chairs
How many chairs fit my table?
Allow about 60cm of table edge for each dining chair without arms, and a little more (about 65cm) for a carver chair with arms. Our dining chairs have a seat height of 44–45cm, which suits standard garden dining tables.

What to look for in a quality teak dining chair
Solid heartwood, kiln-dried. The dense, oil-rich centre of the teak tree, dried so it stays stable outdoors. Every one of our dining chairs is solid, sustainably sourced, high-grade heartwood.
Weight. A quick test of how much teak is in a chair. Our Bali, Riverbank and Flores chairs weigh 9–10kg each, and each chair's weight is on its product page so you can compare.
Proper joinery. Look for chairs held together by mortise-and-tenon joints and hidden dowels rather than screws and brackets, so they stay rigid for years. Folding chairs need hinges to fold, so check the fittings are sturdy and rust-resistant: ours are brass.
The right height. A seat height of 44–45cm suits standard dining tables. Check carver arms too: our Flores carver's arms are 64cm high, so they tuck under our Lily tables and most dining tables, keeping the terrace tidy.
A guarantee that means it. Many garden chairs come with 1-5 years' cover. Our fixed-frame dining chairs have a 10-year guarantee, and our folding chairs 5 years.
Delivered ready to use. Our chairs arrive fully assembled, typically within 7 days, with no flat-pack fixings to tighten.

A carver chair has arms; a standard dining chair doesn't. Carvers are traditionally placed at the ends of the table, with armless chairs along the sides, but many people choose carvers all round for extra comfort. Carver chairs →
Compare the chair's arm height with the clearance under your table's frame. Our Flores stacking carver has 64cm-high arms, which tuck under our Lily tables (64cm clear under the frame) and most dining tables. Each chair's arm height is on its product page.
Yes. Solid teak heartwood is naturally oil-rich, so it resists rain, rot and pests. Left untreated, it weathers to a soft silver-grey over the first few months. We don't recommend covers: they stop air circulating, which can encourage mould and mildew. Leave your chairs out, or store them in a shed or garage over winter if you have the space.
Not if it's high-grade teak heartwood like ours. Its natural oils protect it, so it needs no oil or varnish to last outdoors. If you'd like to keep a warmer, golden tone for longer, cleaning and protecting it each spring will slow the weathering. Teak care guide →
Yes. Every chair arrives fully assembled and ready to use, typically within 7 days to most of mainland UK.
Yes. Our seat pads are made to fit each chair, with Sunproof Olefin covers that are UV resistant, water repellent, removable and washable. Velcro fastenings secure each pad to its chair, so it stays in place. Seat pads are sold separately. Chair & bench cushions →

Yes. Our non-folding chairs are built for everyday commercial use, our stacking chairs save space on busy terraces, and we supply hotels, restaurants and holiday lets. Used commercially, our non-folding chairs are guaranteed for 5 years on the frame and joints and 2 years on moving parts such as stacking fittings.
